Statement

My paintings are the result of my love of paint and colour, The compulsive journey I find myself on leads me through combinations of colour, pattern, brush mark's, negative shapes and layers.

I often use the beautiful Pembrokeshire landscape as inspiration for my work. It may be the colour of the sky against a field of bright yellow or the typical patchwork pattern created by distant rolling fields, mimicking the shapes and shadows belonging to the washing line.

In 2000 I returned to education at Pembrokeshire College where I completed a two year National Diploma in Graphic Design. I was awarded Art Student of the year and nominated for an Adult Learners Award. I followed this with a Higher National Diploma in Fine Art at Coleg Sir Gar where I went on to achieve a First Class Degree with Honours in Fine Art. While studying for my degree at Carmarthen I was awarded first prize in the 2005, London, Boundary Gallery, Figurative Art Prize.

Since then I have taken part in several group exhibitions, including St. Davids Hall, Cardiff, The Queens Hall, Narberth and many solo exhibitions including The Studio Gallery in St. Davids, Pembrokeshire, a selection of my work can be seen here and also at The Greenstage Gallery in Hereford.
